Books

Novels and novellas are listed in reverse order of publication, with the most recent first. At some point I suppose I’ll get really serious and start dividing them out by genre, but in the meantime you can just start at the top and work your way backward. I don’t generally write series (I guess I’ve been burned one too many times by series as a reader, so I tend to avoid them as a writer). However, from time to time I’ll write books set in the same universe or world, and I’ll mention that in the description as a guide to letting you find other things you might like (or want to avoid like the plague, depending on your feelings about the other book(s) set in that world).

In a Victorian England not so different from our own, Lavinia Greene has been raised to be a proper young lady. When she receives a summons to Romania from her eccentric Uncle Malcolm, Lavinia finds herself drawn into a web of mayhem and murder as foreign agents attempt to seize her uncle’s latest invention. She flees for her life, accompanied by her uncle’s assistant, the diverting Joshua Jones, but when he fails to join her in England, she fears the worst has happened. However, she attempts to put the disastrous events in Romania behind her, even as she draws the attentions of the oh-so-eligible Earl of Langdon. As Lavinia finds solace in the earl’s arms, she begins to realize that the secret her uncle had been hiding affects not only her, but the entire world as well.

When a troubled client visits psychic Persephone O’Brien, the last thing she thinks is that she’s about to be drawn into a far-reaching conspiracy that will change her life forever. Accompanied by a distractingly attractive ufologist—and with a little help from an unlikely group of UFO enthusiasts—she races to stop the alien plot before it’s too late. Moving from the bright lights of Los Angeles to the red rocks of Sedona, Bad Vibrations takes the reader on a wild ride that never lets up until its unforgettable climax.

Reviewed on Barnes and Noble: “Christine Pope’s new novel Bad Vibrations is a perfect summer read—a blend of romantic suspense as intoxicating as a margarita with a little shooter of sci fi on the side. Bad Vibrations will remind readers of Janet Evanovich’s early Stephanie Plum novels with its breezy tone, delightful characters, and romantic suspense plot.”

Anika Jespers, a homesteader’s daughter on a Gaian colony, thinks she’s destined for a dull existence on her family’s farm. But when her father makes an impossible bargain with their neighbor, one of the alien Zhore, she faces a future different from anything she could have possibly imagined. The familiar story of Beauty and the Beast takes on new life in this inventive SF romance novella, with the Beauty a homesteader’s daughter and the Beast an alien on a faraway colony world.

Reviewed on Amazon: “This beautifully written version of Beauty and the Beast features an alien/human love story that is achingly romantic and lovingly detailed. All of the elements of the story are here, but with new twists that make the tale a 21st century pleasure…There is sensuality here, and not just in the love scenes. Pope brings her alien planet to vivid life, and her descriptions of everything from the food to the flowers to the alien’s skin are textured without being overwritten. This is not a gimmicky story at all but a new twist on a timeless tale. Lovely.”

Reviewed on Barnes and Noble: “I found it impossible to keep this book down…the plot was simple and quite Beauty and The Beast, without the handsome prince of course, yet it’s very mature unlike the Disney version and truly engaging…I really liked the two main characters, Anika and Sarzhin, as they seemed to be mismatched physically, but emotionally they are two similar persons who share one feeling in common – loneliness. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially those who love both sci-fi and young adult romance.”

You know what they say about deals with the Devil… This time the deal the Devil makes is with God, who offers him a chance at redemption if he can experience human love. Easy enough, according to the Devil, who thinks that making the woman God has chosen fall in love with him will be a simple task. Unfortunately, Lucifer didn’t count on interfering demons, blundering boyfriends, and a young woman who has more questions than he’s willing to answer.

“…Such a joy to read I would recommend this book to anyone…I spent an entire afternoon reading this gem and would do it again in a heartbeat.”—ParaNormalRomance.org

The narrative was tight, the mythology…referenced and tweaked was done so with skill. (Another pet peeve of mine: Don’t mess with the mythology unless you can do it well. Pope can.) And what am I left with? A major crush on the Prince of Darkness…I may get struck down by lightning by saying so, but if Luke Nicolini showed up on my doorstep, I’d be down one soul in the blink of an eye. This story was a very squee-inducing surprise for me.”—The One Hundred Romances Project

“Talk about creative writing, wonderfully constructed characters, an interesting premise, and slow, sizzling heat that climbs so slowly you don’t realize you’re burning until you’re halfway into your cold shower…an incredibly entertaining, sizzling read that keeps you involved intellectually and stimulated in all the other areas. To say I was impressed is an understatement. 5 Tea Cups and a Recommended Read!”—Happily Ever After Reviews

Samael calls the City of Angels home, but he’s far from angelic. His assignment: Bringing the souls of L.A.’s unquiet dead to the underworld. His duties don’t preclude more earthly entanglements, as long he keeps things purely physical. When he meets Felicia McGovern, he soon realizes his attraction to her goes far beyond her admittedly enchanting flesh. Her unexpected discovery of his true nature separates the lovers, but when her life is in danger, Samael risks everything to keep her safe. He faces certain punishment…or possibly a redemption he never imagined could be his.

“This was a fantastic story with an interesting twist: the demons that are the main players are actually quasi-good guys…This is exactly what a novella should be: interesting, enjoyable, plot-filled and short.”—Bitten by Books

“Playing With Fire kept me guessing…this author did not disappoint me. The chemistry between Sam and Felicia is sexy, and the love scene is spicy. Sure to delight fans of the supernatural.”—Long and Short Reviews
