All Good Things...

End of series

Since we’re almost at the midpoint of 2017 (how did that happen??), I thought it might be a good time to talk a little about what I have planned for the second half of this year and into 2018…with the standard disclaimer that some things about this schedule will probably change, especially with regards to what happens when in 2018.

That said, I want to let you all know that Awoken, the Djinn Wars book coming out on July 12, 2017, will be the last book in that series. There will be a standalone holiday novella that’s slated to appear in a multi-author boxed set this November, but that’s it for the Djinn Wars. However, I also mentioned on Facebook a while back that I was thinking about branching out with that series and changing locales. I’m still planning to do this, with a spinoff series tentatively titled Djinn Dominion. That series should make its first appearance in early spring 2018, probably in March, and will involve an entirely new cast of characters in a new setting, although in the same Djinn Wars universe.

Also, after stewing over the decision for a looong while, I’ve decided to end the Witches of Cleopatra Hill series after Book 14, which will come out in January 2018. Between now and then you’ll get another “back in time” novella (Bad Blood), and then Levi’s story in Deep Magic. As with the Djinn Wars series, though, the Cleopatra Hill series will get a spinoff, The Witches of Canyon Road. The setup for the new series will have its genesis in the events of Book 14, so although the Canyon Road series will be separated from the Cleopatra Hill books by both space and time, it’s still the same universe, only with new characters and challenges. The first of the Witches of Canyon Road books should come out in late spring 2018.

I’m also going to do a spinoff of the Gaian Consortium series, titled Gaia Rising. There will be one more Consortium book — Refugees — which will be out in mid-September 2017 and which will serve as a sort of bridge between the Consortium books and the new series. Again, same universe, but with a new generation of heroes and heroines (some of them the children of the couples from the Consortium series) taking on a new and deadly enemy. I don’t have a firm release date for the first of the Gaia Rising series, but I’m guessing it will be sometime in the summer of 2018.

Right now I don’t have any firm plans for future Tales of the Latter Kingdoms novels. With those, I kind of have to wait for inspiration to strike. Then again, I thought I was done after Moon Dance, only to come up with an idea for a new book, which will be out in mid-November 2017. So I’ll just say that the Latter Kingdoms will be on hiatus after the November book, but I’m not going to commit to a firm end for the series yet.

Otherwise, I have plans for a new paranormal romance trilogy that I hope will be out in the fall of 2018, although I’ll wait to see how it goes with the spinoff books before I embark on something completely new. I’m chafing at the bit, though — I have some great plans, and gorgeous covers by Ravven, so I hope I won’t have to put off those books for too long!

Anyway, I hope this gives you all an idea of where things are headed. It’s always tough to make the decision to end a series, but I don’t ever want to drag things out past the point where they’ve worn out their welcome. And because I’ll be writing spinoffs, things will be different…but not too different. 😉

Happy reading!
